The latest example comes from the Vanguard West offshore wind farm, where turbine manufacturer Vestas will supply 92 of its enormous V236 15.0 MW machines for the RWE-led project, located around 45 kilometres off the Norfolk coast.
To put that into perspective, each turbine has blades that are longer than a football pitch is wide. When they start turning together out at sea, they will generate enough renewable electricity to power around 1.5 million homes.
